JUNE 24TH, 2017

JUNE 23-25  REALLY SOLID DOLPHIN FISHING THIS WEEKEND DOWN IN ISLAMORADA.  WHILE NOT TOO MANY BIG FISH, THERE WERE CERTAINLY PLENTY OF SCHOOLIES TO KEEP US ENTERTAINED.  THROW IN A WAHOO AND SOME TUNA AND WE ENDED UP PUTTING TOGETHER SOME NICE DAYS.  SOONER OR LATER THE BIGGER BULLS WILL POP UP AND WE'RE GOING TO GET OURS!

JUNE 4TH, 2017

JUNE2-4  WE HAVE RETURNED ONCE AGAIN TO THE BEAUTIFUL WATERS OF ISLAMORADA IN THE FLORIDA KEYS.  DOLPHIN FISHING HAS BEEN PRETTY CONSTISTANT WITH SCHOOLIES BEING PLENTIFUL IN THE AREA BETWEEN 600 AND 700 FEET OF WATER.  SUNDAY WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO CATCH A WHITE MARLIN, A RARE AND IMPRESSIVE CATCH IN FLORIDA WATERS.  CONGRATULATIONS TO GARY SIMMONS FROM TAMPA FOR CATCHING HIS FIRST MARLIN!

25 LB BLACKFIN HITS THE DECK OF THE GIN CLEAR.
APRIL 18TH, 2017

APRIL 17,18  STEADY EASTERLY BREEZES MADE THESE PAST FEW TRIPS REALLY FUN WITH 4 TO 6 FOOT SEAS AND A NICE CHOP ON THE WATER.  TUNA FISHING HAS BEEN REALLY GOOD WITH SOME NICE ONES BEING CAUGHT FROM 280 IN TO AS CLOSE AS 120 FEET OF WATER RIGHT OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET.  TUESDAY WE HAD A REALLY NICE DOLPHIN UP TO THE GAFF BUT UNFORTUNATLY IT ENDED UP GETTING OFF AT THE LAST MINUTE.  WE ESTIMATED IT TO BE AROUND 25 LBS OR SO.  STILL PLENTY OF SAILS TO FIND MILLING AROUND THE SHALLOW PATCH REEFS IF YOUR INTERESTED IN SOME SPINDLEBEAK ACTION, AS WE SAW TWO WHILE TROLLING ON THURSDAY.  THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS FISHING SHOULD BE ON FIRE IN OUR AREA!  DON'T MISS OUT ON THE SPECTACULAR SPRING RUN!

MAR. 3RD, 2017

MAR 3  I KNOW ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE WE HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS REPORT BUT SPRING IS HERE AND FISHING SHOULD BEGIN TO IMPROVE IN OUR AREA.  EXPECT TO SEE MORE DOLPHIN AND TUNA CATCHES TOWARDS THE END OF THIS MONTH, WITH A FEW SAILS IN THE MIX AS WELL.  TROLLING WILL PREVAIL AS THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS TO TARGET THESE SPECIES WITH THE ABILITY TO ACTIVELY SEARCH FOR THE MOST PRODUCTIVE WATER CONDITIONS.  WE'RE LOOKING FOWARD TO SOME GREAT FISHING YET TO COME!

OCT-NOV 7  SEEMS LIKE THE WIND HAS BEEN BLOWING ALMOST EVERY DAY NOW OUT OF THE EAST PRODUCING ROUGHER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS.  WHEN WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET OUT, FISHING HAS BEEN SOMEWHAT PRODUCTIVE WITH NICE SIZED DOLPHIN AND A FEW SAILS TO GO AROUND.  MOST OF OUR CATCH HAS BEEN BY MEANS OF TROLLING BUT SOON LIVE BAIT WILL BE THE WAY TO  GO FOR THE BEST ACTION.  LOOKING FOWARD TO SOME COOLER WEATHER AND WITH IT THE ANNUAL PUSH OF SAILS THROUGH OUR AREA.  WINTER KITE FISHING HERE WE COME!

WE SPOTTED THIS ONE WAKING ON THE SURFACE AND TRICKED HER INTO EATING A NAKED BALLYHOO.
AUG. 20TH, 2016

SEPT 15  TYPICAL FISHING IN OUR AREA FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.  NUMEROUS BONITO AND A FEW BLACKFIN TUNA IN THE MIX ALONG WITH SOME LUCKY ANGLERS SCORING A WAHOO OR A DOLPHIN.  OCTOBER IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND GREAT FISHING WILL ARRIVE HERE SOON!

GOOD TIMES WITH SOME GOOD FRIENDS DOWN IN ISLAMORADA. ALREADY LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR!
JULY 30TH, 2016

JULY 29-31  PRETTY GOOD FISHING OUR LAST WEEK DOWN HERE IN ISLAMORADA.  NICE DEBRIS LIKE 30 FOOT PIECES OF BAMBOO AND A 20 FOOT PIECE OF INDUSTRIAL HOSE HELD SOME NICE SCHOOLIES THAT GAVE US PLENTY OF ACTION WHEN TOSSING LIVE BAIT TO THEM.  ON OUR WAY BACK HOME TO PALM BEACH THIS NEXT WEEK, LOOK FOWARD TO SOME EPIC LATE SUMMER FISHING!

A NICE 25 POUNDER AND A HECK OF A FIGHT TO GO ALONG WITH IT.  GREAT JOB KEEPING HIM ON GUYS!
JULY 16TH, 2016

JULY14-17  WOW WHAT AN EXCITING WEEKEND DOWN HERE IN THE KEYS!  ROUGH WATER, BIG FISH, THESE PAST FEW DAYS HAVE GIVEN US PLENTY OF ACTION AND THEN SOME.  NICE DOLPHIN UP TO 25 LBS AND PLENTY OF BITES FROM SMALLER FISH.  LOOKS LIKE CONDITIONS WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL YEAR LONG HAVE FINALLY SHOWED UP!

ROBERT GAGE AND KEITH JOHNSON HOLD UP THIS ISLAMORADA SAIL.

JUNE 26TH, 2016

JUNE24-26  AFTER A COUPLE SLOW DAYS SEARCHING FOR DOLPHIN WE FINALLY CAUGHT A FEW AS WELL AS A SAILFISH ON SUNDAY.  STILL WAITING FOR THE BIGGER FISH AND NUMBERS TO ARRIVE DOWN IN THE KEYS.  HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DOLPHIN TO BOB TORSEY!  THANKS FOR TAKING ME FISHING ALL THOSE TIMES DAD!
JUNE 17TH, 2016

JUNE 19  HAVING A BLAST DOWN IN THE KEYS CATCHING DOLPHIN!  THE FISH HAVE BEEN MORE SPREAD OUT SO FAR COMPARED TO LAST YEAR BUT ARE STILL AROUND IF YOU SPEND ENOUGH TIME LOOKING FOR THEM.  WE EVEN HAD A BLUE MARLIN POP INTO THE SPREAD ONE DAY.  BENT THE ROD AND RIPPED OFF SOME DRAG BEFORE THE HOOK PULLED BUT STILL EXCITING NON THE LESS!

A FUN DAY WITH FRIENDS OUT ON THE GIN CLEAR CATCHING DOLPHIN AND TUNA.
MAY 28TH, 2016

MAY28-29  WRAPPING UP A FEW LAST TRIPS BEFORE WE'RE ONCE AGAIN HEADED TO ISLAMORADA FOR THE SUMMER WE CAUGHT SOME DOLPHIN AND TUNA ON SATURDAY AND ENDED UP WITH A DOLPHIN AND TRIPLETAIL ON SUNDAY.  SLICK CALM SEAS HAVE MADE THE JOURNEY OFFSHORE AN EASY ONE, THE HARDEST PART IS FINDING THE WEEDS AND DEBRIS THAT HOLD FISH THIS TIME OF YEAR.  BUT ONCE YOU FIND A GOOD FLOAT, ITS GAME ON!

MIXED BAG CATCH FOR A PRE-MOTHER'S DAY OUTING.
MAY 7TH, 2016

MAY 7  NORTHWEST WINDS FOLLOWING AN UNSEASONABLE COLD FRONT REALLY CHANGED THE GAME FOR THIS WEEKS FISHING.  DOLPHIN SCATTERED HERE AND THERE WITH KINGS AND BONITO INSHORE ON THE REEF LINE PROVIDED AT LEAST A LITTLE ACTION TO OTHERWISE SLOW FISHING CONDITIONS.  LOOKING FOWARD TO CHANGE IT WINDS AND WITH THEM A CHANGE IN OUR CATCHING!

APRIL 23-24  10 TRIPS IN A ROW BAGGING SOME DOLPHIN!  THESE PAST DAYS THE FISH HAVE BEEN MORE SPREAD OUT DUE TO WESTERLY DIRECTION OF THE RECENT WINDS.  TRAVELING AS FAR OUT AS 1100 FEET OF WATER WE HAVE CAUGHT FISH AT 790 AND 970 ON SATURDAY AND AGAIN AT 450 TO 500 ON SUNDAY.  GORGEOUS BLUE WATER AND GREAT FISHING!

APRIL 21  IT'S OFFICIAL, THE DOLPHIN ARE RUNNING!  OVER THE PAST 8 TRIPS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH WE HAVE BROUGHT BACK DOLPHIN, WITH SOME DAYS FISH EXCEEDING 30 LBS.  TROLLING HAS BEEN  THE MOST PRODUCTIVE FOR US IN ANYWHERE FROM 75 TO 600 FEET RIGHT OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET AND TO THE SOUTH.  NOW IS THE TIME TO GET OUT THERE IF YOU WANT TO CATCH THESE BEAUTIFUL FISH!

BELLA(7), TORI, JOHN(6) AND SAM SELL GOT TO BRING HOME SOME NICE DOLPHIN FILETS FOR DINNER!  AND THAT'S NO JOKE!
APRIL 1ST, 2016

APRIL 1  GOOD FISHING CONTINUES IN OUR AREA AS DOLPHIN ARE BEGINNING TO MAKE MORE OF AN APPEARANCE THE FURTHER WE GET INTO SPRING.  STILL GOOD CHANCES AT SOME SAILFISH AS WE HAD 2 SHOTS TODAY TROLLING ALONG THE SHALLOW PATCH REEFS AROUND 95 FEET OF WATER.  DOLPHIN BITES WERE A LITTLE DEEPER AROUND 420 TO 465.  DON'T MISS THE SPRING BITE, CHARTER A TRIP TODAY!

GENE SCHIESHER CAUGHT THIS GAFFER DOLPHIN WHILE KITE FISHING OFF THE BREAKERS!  MATE:  CAPT. JIMMY HALL
MARCH 23RD, 2016

MARCH 23  DOLPHIN ARE SHOWING UP IN PRETTY GOOD NUMBERS AND A FEW WAHOO AROUND ALSO.  EASTERLY BREEZY CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN PUSHING THE BAIT UP CLOSE TO OUR COAST AND THE PREDATORIAL SPECIES ARE NOT FAR BEHIND!

MARCH 19  STILL A FEW SAILFISH BEING SEEN HERE AND THERE WITH A FEW EARLY SEASON DOLPHIN IN THE MIX AS WELL.  AS WE MOVE FARTHER INTO SPRING WE EXPECT TO SEE SOME BETTER DOLPHIN AND TUNA FISHING AS WINDS BEGIN TO SHIFT TOWARDS AN EASTERLY DIRECTION.

FEB 25  EL NINO CONDITIONS HAVE WREAKED HAVOC ON OUR WINTER SEASON THIS YEAR.   SEEMS TO ME THAT MOST TRIPS WE HAVE HAD SCHEDULED HAVE BEEN SCRUBBED DO TO WILD WEATHER MOVING THROUGH OUR AREA.  THIS THURSDAY WE DID HAVE A BREAK IN THE WEATHER WITH IDEAL NORTHWEST WINDS AND WE SAW 4 SAILFISH IN THE MORNING AND KING MACKEREL IN THE AFTERNOON.  LOOKING FORWARD TO UPCOMING MONTH OF MARCH TO SEE WHAT IT WILL BRING!

DEC 30-JAN 2  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF OUR SUBSCRIBERS!  FISHING HAS BEEN UP AND DOWN THIS WEEK WITH WINDS FROM THE SOUTH AND GREEN WATER IN CLOSE TO SHORE.  LIVE BAITING UNDER THE KITE WE HAVE CAUGHT SOME SAILFISH, WHILE TROLLING HAS PRODUCED A FEW KINGS AND BLACKFIN TUNA.  COOLER TEMPERATURES HAVE MOVED INTO THE AREA SO WE CAN EXPECT AN INFLUX IN SAILFISH ACTIVITY AS THE FISH PUSH THEIR WAY SOUTH.  A DAY OR TWO AFTER A FRONT WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST CHANCES AT CATCHING THESE PRIZED SPORT FISH.  BOOK YOUR CHARTER TODAY!  561-319-0270

AT ALMOST 8 FEET LONG, THIS SAILFISH PUT ON QUITE A SHOW BEFORE FINALLY POSING FOR THIS SHOT.
RELEASED TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY!
DEC. 12TH, 2015

NICE DOLPHIN LIKE THIS ONE ARE THE REASON WHY WE'RE OUT HERE FOLKS!
DEC. 12TH 2015

DEC 12  A COUPLE FANTASTIC CATCHES THIS MORNING WHILE TROLLING IN THE 400'S JUST SOUTH OF PALM BEACH INLET.  A DOLPHIN CLOSE TO 20 LBS AND A 7'10" LONG SAILFISH CAPPED OFF THE DAY.  WATCH OUT FOR MORE EXCITING FISH IN THE NEXT WEEKS TO COME!

NOV 27  THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS HAVE PROVIDED US WITH SOME GREAT TROLLING ACTION WITH WAHOO UP TO 25 LBS AND LOTS OF GAFFER DOLPHIN.  WINDY CONDITIONS HAVE MADE FISHING ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE THIS WEEK WITH SEAS FROM 8 TO 10 FEET ON MOST DAYS.  BUT, THE GOOD SIDE IS THAT ALL THAT EASTERLY BREEZE WILL PUSH PILES OF BAIT TOWARDS OUR COAST AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS...  THE PREDATORS ARE NOT FAR BEHIND!  WE'RE GETTING READY FOR A SPECTACULAR SAILFISH SEASON IN THE MONTHS TO COME.  PICK THE DAYS FOLLOWING A COLD FRONT AND YOU'RE SURE TO SEE LOTS OF ACTION!

OCT 26  WELL, IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN.  WE'RE HAULED OUT IN THE BOATYARD DOING SOME MAINTENANCE AND MOST LIKELY WON'T BE BACK IN ACTION UNTIL NEXT MONTH.  WILL TRY TO KEEP AN UPDATE AS GOOD FISHING RETURNS TO OUR AREA ONCE AGAIN.

SEPT 10  TROLLING INSHORE TODAY WE MARKED NUMEROUS SCHOOLS OF BAIT LOCATED IN AND AROUND 80 FEET OF WATER.  IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR THE FISH WE WERE LOOKING FOR TO POP UP INTO THE SPREAD, A SAILFISH.  DESPITE NUMEROUS SLASHES WITH ITS BILL, WE JUST COULD NOT GET THE FISH TO HOLD ON TO THE BONITO STRIP IT WAS PURSUING.  EVEN THOUGH WE DIDNT HOOK THE SPINDLEBEAK, IT WAS STILL COOL TO SEE THE FISH COME UP ON THE LEFT SHORT, STRIKE, FADE AND THEN COME BACK AFTER THE BAIT MULTIPLE TIMES.  BONITOS, A FEW KINGS, SOME TUNA AND A NICE WAHOO WERE ALSO ON THE REPORT FOR SOME OF THE OTHER BOATS IN THE AREA.

A GREAT DAY OFFSHORE OF PALM BEACH, LATE SUMMER DOLPHIN FISHING!
SEPT. 4TH, 2015

SEPT 4  TRAVELLING 16 MILES OFFSHORE WE FOUND LARGE PATCHES OF SARGASSUM LOADED UP WITH BAIT AND HUNGRY DOLPHIN.  MOST OF THE FISH WERE SCHOOLIE SIZED BUT THERE WERE A FEW LARGER ONES SWIMMING BELOW THAT WE COULD NOT GET TO BITE DUE TO A LACK OF "WHITE BAITS."  THE BOATS THAT DID HAVE PILCHARDS, GREENIES, OR SARDINES CASHED IN ON THE HOT BITE WHILE LIVE CHUMMING THE FISH INTO A FRENZY.  REGARDLESS OF WHAT WAS GOING ON AROUND US WE STILL MANAGED TO PUT DOUBLE DIGIT FISH IN THE BOX.  NOT A BAD DAY BY ANY MEANS!

THE JAKUBSON FAMILY HAD A GREAT TIME BAILING DOLPHIN OFFSHORE OF ISLAMORADA.
JULY 25TH, 2015

MARK LANDED THIS 25+ BULL DOLPHIN ON A PENN 750 SPINNER AFTER IT INHALED A LIVE BAIT RIGHT AT THE TRANSOM.  OVER A 20 MINUTE FIGHT!!!
JULY 24TH, 2015

AFTER OVER A DECADE OF BEING THE "LUCKY" ROD, THIS INTERNATIONAL 12 ALWAYS CAUGHT THE FIRST FISH, AND IN THIS CASE THERE WAS NO EXCEPTION.  WITH JUST ABOUT EVERY PART WORN THROUGH, #1 HAS BEEN RETIRED TO THE "HALL OF FAME."
JULY 11TH,2015

ULTRA ULTRA LIGHT TACKLE MADE CATCHING SCHOOLIES A BLAST!  WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU'VE BACKED DOWN ON A DOLPHIN!!
JULY 10TH, 2015

JULY 30  WELL OUR TIME IN THE KEYS HAS COME TO AN END FOR THIS YEAR.  IT SEEMS THAT JUST A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WE WERE GEARING UP TO MAKE THE TRIP DOWN, BUT FAST FOWARD TWO MONTHS AND WE'VE REALIZED THAT TIME REALLY DOES FLY WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN.  GREAT DOLPHIN FISHING OFFSHORE OF THE HUMPS WITH FISH UP TO 30LBS ENCOUNTERED DURING MANY TRIPS.  EVEN THE INSHORE SNAPPER FISHING HAS BEEN OFF THE CHARTS WHILE TAKING A BREAK FROM THE OFFSHORE GRIND.  ONE THING IS SURE, WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR TO DO IT AGAIN!  PALM BEACH AUGUST WAHOO FISHING HERE WE COME!

MARK COPE WITH GULFSTREAM LURES HAD A BLAST CATCHING THIS BULL DOLPHIN ON OUR WAY BACK IN.

JUNE 12TH, 2015

BATTLE READY ON OUR WAY OUT TO THE "HUMPS"
JUNE 12TH, 2015

JUNE 11-14  DOLPHIN FISHING CONTINUES TO BE GREAT DOWN IN THE KEYS THIS MONTH... FINDING THE BIRDS WITH A LIVEWELL FULL OF PILCHARDS READY TO CAST OUT AT CRUISING FISH HAS GIVEN US THE BEST RESULTS.  WHILE COVERING AREA, TROLLING A SIMPLE SPREAD OF FRESH CAUGHT HORSE BALLYHOO AND BONITO STRIPS HAS PRODUCED SOME EXCELLENT BITES FROM HUNGRY DOLPHIN.  ALTHOUGH AT TIMES, THE  FISH HAVE BEEN RELUCTANT TO BITE.  MOVING AROUND FROM PLACE TO PLACE ENSURES THAT SOONER OR LATER, YOU WILL FIND THAT PACK OF RAVAGING FISH, AND FROM THEN ON ITS GAME ON!   A FEW WHITE MARLIN HAVE POPPED INTO THE SPREAD OF LUCKY BOATS IN THE AREA AND THERE ARE A FEW BLUES SIGHTED AS WELL.  AROUND THE "HUMPS,"  BLACKFIN TUNA HAVE ALSO MADE THEIR PRESENCE KNOWN.  FISHING SHOULD REMAIN SOLID THROUGHOUT THE REMAINDER OF THIS MONTH AND INTO JULY.  DON'T MISS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE WORLD CLASS FISHING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACK YARD IN THE FLORIDA KEYS!

JUNE 6-7  FISHING IS OUTSTANDING SO FAR THIS MONTH OFF OF ISLAMORADA IN THE FLORIDA KEYS.   DOLPHIN UP TO 30LBS, BLUE MARLIN, SAILFISH, WAHOO,  YOU NAME IT, THEY'RE OUT HERE.  GIN CLEAR HAS MADE THE JOURNEY TO THE FISH RICH WATERS OFF THE "409 HUMP" THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT YOU WILL ENCOUNTER ON ANY GIVEN DAY.  CHARTERS ARE AVAILABLE, CALL 561-319-0270 FOR DATES AND RATES.

MAY 21  SCATTERED DOLPHIN ACTIVITY IN DEPTHS RANGING FROM 530 TO 950.  THIS TIME OF YEAR WE ARE SEARCHING FOR ANY FLOATING DEBRIS SUCH AS BOARDS OR LARGE PATCHES OF WEEDLINE.  FIND THESE ITEMS AND THE FISH WILL MOST LIKELY BE CLOSE.  ALSO BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR COLOR CHANGES AND CURRENT EDGES WHEN SEARCHING FOR FISH, AS ANY CHANGE IN THE WATER COULD POTENTIALLY HOLD BAIT, AND IN TURN, PREDATORS.

THE LOVE OF MY LIFE CAUGHT THIS NICE DOLPHIN OFF THE DODGE WALL.
CATHY YOU ARE THE BOMB!  KEEP CATCHIN 'EM UP!!!
MAY 8TH, 2015

20+LB BLACKFIN CAUGHT WHILE DRIFTING BAIT ALONG THE SHALLOW PATCH REEFS.
MAY 8TH, 2015

MAY 8  FISHING IN OUR AREA STARTING TO LOOK BETTER AS WE SCORED SOME NICE CATCHES TODAY WHILE DRIFTING BAITS OFF THE DODGE WALL.  GAFFER DOLPHIN AND BIG BLACKFIN PROVIDED US SOME GREAT ACTION AMIDST THE PATCH REEFS LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF PALM BEACH INLET.  DON'T MISS SOME OF THIS LATE SPRING BITE!  SCHEDULE A CHARTER TODAY!

MAY 2  SCATTERED BLACKFIN TUNA HAVE BEEN FOUND IN AROUND 200 FEET OF WATER SOUTH OF PALM BEACH INLET.  ALONG WITH THE TUNA A FEW DOLPHIN UP TO 15 POUNDS HAVE ALSO BEEN AROUND THE SAME DEPTHS.  OCCASIONAL SAILFISH HAVE BEEN FOUND PATROLLING THE INSHORE PATCH REEFS.  LOCATE THE BAIT AND YOU'LL FIND THE PREDATORS.

THE DOWNRIGGER PAYS OFF AGAIN WITH THIS 15LB WAHOO.
APRIL 11TH, 2015

APRIL 11  THE WATER OF OF PALM BEACH INLET IS BEGINNING TO LOOK BETTER HERE WITH A NICE WELL DEFINED COLOR CHANGE.  WE RAISED A SAILFISH IN THE SHALLOWS BUT COULDNT GET THE FISH TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH ITS STRIKE, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE WIRE RIG IT WAS PURSUING.  WE DID, HOWEVER, PICK UP A DECENT WAHOO ON THE DOWNRIGGER AND THAT FISH MADE THE DAY.  WE'RE LOOKING FOWARD TO SOME BETTER FISHING CONDITIONS HERE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

APRIL 3  TODAY'S AFTERNOON TRIP WAS A PLEASANT ONE WITH CLEAR SKYS AND BEAUTIFUL CONDITIONS AS WE MOTORED OUR WAY OUT OF PALM BEACH INLET.  DROPPING THE RIGGERS JUST TO THE SOUTH, WE QUICKLY PUT A DECENT SIZED BLACKFIN TUNA IN THE BOX.  TROLLING AROUND A BIT MORE WE WERE EXPECTING MORE TUNA BITES BUT THEY WERE ON THE MOVE AND DIFFICULT TO KEEP UP WITH.  ZIG-ZAGGING OUR WAY BACK TO JUST OUT FRONT OF THE INLET WE WERE ATTACKED BY A POD OF 3 SAILFISH.  HOOKING IN TO 2 OF THEM, WE QUICKLY REELED IN ALL THE OTHER LINES AND BEGAN OUR PURSUIT.  UNFORTUNATLY ONE OF THEM CAME UNBUTTONED DURING ITS PARADE OF JUMPS BUT WE DID MANAGE TO GET THE RELEASE ON THE REMAINING FISH.  IN ALL, IT WAS A SPECTACULAR BITE FOLLOWED BY MOMENTS OF ADREANALINE AS BOTH FISH TOOK OFF IN SEPARATE DIRECTIONS, NOW THAT'S EXCITING!

MARCH 30  TODAY WE CAUGHT 3 DOLPHIN IN THE SHALLOW WATER OVER THE REEFS JUST TO THE NORTH OF SINGER ISLAND.  2 OF THEM WERE GAFFER SIZED AND THEY WERE WELCOMED ABOARD GRACIOUSLY WITH THE MEAT HOOK.  HAVING SOME FISH INSHORE DEFINETLY IS A GOOD SIGN THAT PERHAPS THEY'LL BE SHOWING UP IN STRONGER NUMBERS IN THE WEEKS TO COME.  LET'S GET OUT THERE AND CATCH 'EM UP!

MARCH 17-22  DIFFICULT, SLOW, SUMMERLIKE CONDITIONS HAVE PLAUGUED US THIS PAST WEEK.  TUESDAY WHILE FISHING LIVE BAIT OUT OF THE RIGGERS DUE TO LACK OF WIND, WE FINALLY HAD A BITE AND RELEASED A SAILFISH IN 100 FEET OF WATER ON THE NORTH SIDE OF LOST TREE.  THE NEXT TRIP WAS SATURDAY AND WE DECIDED TO DO SOME TROLLING.  AFTER HOURS WITHOUT EVEN A KNOCKDOWN WE CAUGHT A DOLPHIN CLOSE TO 600 FEET OF WATER RIGHT OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET AND CAUGHT A SMALL BLACKFIN TUNA ON OUR WAY BACK IN.  SUNDAY'S TRIP WAS HORRIBLE WITHOUT A BITE OF ANY KIND.  THE WORD ON THE STREET WAS ABOUT THE SAME EXCEPT ONE OF OUR FRIENDS CAUGHT A 50LB WAHOO,  BUT IT WAS THE ONLY BITE THAT HE HAD THAT DAY.  HOPEFULLY WE WILL GET A CHANGE IN WEATHER CONDITIONS TO STIR THINGS UP OUT THERE AND MAKE THE FISH START BITING AGAIN!   WE'RE READY FOR THE NEXT EPIC DAY!

MARCH 15  AFTER A WEEK OF GREAT DOLPHIN FISHING WE WERE EXCITED TO GET OUT THERE FOR A FULL DAY CHARTER THIS MORNING. FIRST THING WE NOTICED WAS THAT THE WINDS DIED DOWN CONSIDERABLY AND THE OCEAN WAS VIRTUALLY SLICK CALM, QUITE A CONTRAST FROM THE PAST FEW DAYS.  WE HEADED OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET AND DROPPED OUR RIGGERS IN ABOUT 250 FEET AS OUR PLAN WAS TO EXPLORE TROLLING OFFSHORE IN THE MORNING THEN LIVE BAIT IN THE AFTERNOON.  AFTER ZIG ZAGGING EAST FOR HOURS, WE FINALLY TURNED AROUND IN 1400 FEET AND STARTED TOWARDS THE COAST WITHOUT EVEN A SNIFF.  WE TROLLED OUR WAY INTO THE SHALLOWS OFF OF TRUMP'S WHERE THERE WAS A COLOR CHANGE IN ABOUT 250 FEET OF WATER.  WITHOUT ENOUGH WIND TO PUT OUT A KITE WE FISHED GOGGLE-EYES OUT OF THE RIGGERS WHERE WE WERE IMMEDIATLY HARASSED BY SMALL SHARKS.  WE SLID INTO REAL SHALLOW WATER, 70 FEET AND FINALLY HAD A FISH HARD CHARGE OUR LEFT LONG.  BEFORE WE COULD EVEN IDENTIFY THE SPECIES, WE SAW THE JUMP OF A SAILFISH AND SADLY THAT WAS THE LAST OF IT.  THE HOOK HAD TURNED  BACK INTO THE BAIT AND THE FISH WAS FREE.  ABOUT AN HOUR LATER WE HAD A TINY DOLPHIN INVESTIGATING OUR GOGG ON THE RIGHT SHORT.  WE THREW SOME CHUNKS AND THE FISH ATE TWO OF THEM THEN TOOK OFF AS IF SOMETHING WAS CHASING IT.  SOON AFTER THAT WE DECIDED THAT WE HAD ENOUGH AND BROUGHT IT IN.  ALL IN ALL, A TOUGH DAY SEARCHING FOR FISH WITH GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT.  HAD WE HAVE HOOKED THAT SAIL, WE WOULDN'T BE FEELING THAT BAD; BUT ITS DAYS LIKE THESE WHY THEY CALL IT "FISHING" AND NOT "CATCHING."  WE'LL GET 'EM NEXT TIME!

AUGIE, CLAUDIA, AND A.J. FROM THE TAMPA AREA BRAVED SOME ROUGH
SEAS TO CRANK IN THESE FINE DOLPHIN: THEIR FIRST ONES!  GREAT JOB CREW!
MARCH 8TH, 2015

MARCH 8 TODAY WE WENT RIGHT OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET AND SET UP OUR KITE SPREAD.  AFTER TWO HOURS OF NOTHING WE SWITCHED GEARS TO TROLLING AND GRABBED SOME NICE DOLPHIN AND JUMPED OFF A BIG FISH BEFORE HEADING IN.  GREAT JOB FOR OUR JUNIOR ANGLERS DESPITE ROUGH CONDITIONS AND A LITTLE "EXCESSIVE  CHUMMING."

FEB 12  STILL PLENTY OF SAILFISH BEING CAUGHT JUST TO THE NORTH OF US ALONG WITH SOME DECENT DOLPHIN ACTIVITY.  A NORTHWEST WIND BEHIND A COLD FRONT WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO SCORE BIG.

FRANK TOMASEK OF PARK RIDGE ILLINOIS, HAPPY TO HAVE LANDED HIS FIRST SAILFISH ABOARD THE GIN CLEAR!
MATE-- KEITH "THE KID" JOHNSON.
FEB. 8TH, 2015

FEB 9  SCATTERED CLOUDS WITH AN APROACHING FRONT SLOWED THE BITE DOWN FOR MANY OF THE BOATS THAT FISHED TODAY.  WHILE DANGLING GOGGS UNDER OUR KITE, WE WERE AT FIRST HARASSED BY BAIT-STEALING SHARKS JUST TO THE SOUTH OF THE DODGE WALL.  WE MADE A MOVE A LITTLE DEEPER AND LET THE EAST WIND SLIDE US BACK, WHICH WAS IDEAL FOR THE PRESENTATION OF OUR SPREAD.  WHILE HOPPING A BAIT OVER A SMALL PATCH OF WEEDS, WE WERE AMBUSHED BY A BIG FISH ON OUR SHORT BAIT.  IT LOOKED AS IF SOMEONE DROPPED A BOWLING BALL FROM THE SKY! THE MATE HOOKED INTO THE FISH AND IT QUICKLY TOOK OFF ON A BLAZING FAST RUN.  THE ANGLER WOULD WORK THE FISH SOMEWHAT CLOSE AND THEN IT WOULD TEAR OFF ACROSS THE SURFACE.  CHASING THE FISH DOWN, WE ALMOST RAN IT OVER WHEN IT PULLED A 180 AND SHOT BACK TOWARDS THE BOAT.  THATS WHEN WE SAW IT:  A BIG WAHOO!  THE FISH SOUNDED AND WE WERE IN THE PROCESS OF GAINING BACK SOME GROUND WHEN SADLY THE FISH'S RAZOR SHARP TEETH CUT THROUGH THE MONOFILIMENT LEADER.  IN ALL WE WERE HOOKED UP FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES.  WHAT A FIGHT!!!  SETTING BACK UP AGAIN IN THE SAME DEPTH (140), WE FINALLY HAD A SOLID HOOKUP ON A FEISTY SAILFISH.  AFTER A SERIES OF TAILWALKS AND CONSTANT GREYHOUNDING, WE HAD THE FISH BY THE BILL TO SCORE THE RELEASE.  IN THE END, WE HAD SOME GREAT ACTION FOR WHAT WAS PERCEIVED TO BE A SLOW DAY!

CONGRATULATIONS TO SCOTT FOR CATCHING A COUPLE NICE DOLPHIN AND HIS FIRST SAILFISH!
JAN 29TH, 2015

JAN 27-31  THE NAME OF THE GAME THIS WEEK IS SAILFISH.  NUMEROUS BITES AND CATCHES JUST SOUTH OF PALM BEACH INLET IN ANY WHERE FROM 145 TO 250 FEET OF WATER.  ALONG WITH THE SPINDLEBEAKS HAVE BEEN SOME GAFFER DOLPHIN AND A FEW KINGS MIXED IN.  MULTIPLE HOOKUPS ON SAILFISH HAVE BEEN COMMONPLACE AS THESE FISH CONTINUE THEIR MIGRATION TO THE SOUTH.  A DAY OR TWO FOLLOWING A COLD FRONT WILL GIVE YOU THE BEST SHOT AT SCORING THE MOST RELEASES.  THE BITE IS ON!!!

A SUCCESSFUL SAILFISH RELEASE!
JAN. 17TH, 2015

JAN 17-18  SATURDAY MORNING'S TRIP ALTHOUGH IT WAS A SLOW ONE, WE HOOKED, FOUGHT AND RELEASED A SAILFISH IN 190 FEET OF WATER JUST SOUTH OF THE BREAKERS.  SUNDAY WE GAVE TROLLING A SHOT AND FOUND A FEW GAFFER DOLPHIN AND CAUGHT ONE KINGFISH ON OUR WAY IN.  WE'RE STILL WAITING FOR SOME OF THE SAILFISH TO PUSH DOWN.  HOPEFULLY, THINGS WILL REALLY GET GOING IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

JAN 7-8  A STRONG COLD FRONT WHIPPED THROUGH OUR AREA ON THURSDAY MORNING, PRODUCING SOME ROUGH WATER TO COPE WITH WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FLY KITES.  NUMEROUS BOATS HEADED OUT FOR THE 2015 SILVER SAILFISH DERBY, THE OLDEST SAILFISH TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD, HOSTED BY THE WEST PALM BEACH FISHING CLUB.  DAY ONE HAD THE MOST SAILFISH ACTION WITH SOME OF THE BOATS SCORING DOUBLE DIGIT RELEASES.  DAY TWO, THE WINDS SUBSIDED TOWARDS THE END OF THE MORNING, BUT THE BOATS THAT FOUND THE FISH STILL MANAGED TO HAVE PRODUCTIVE DAY DESPITE HAVING TO FLY KITES WITH HELIUM BALLOONS ATTACHED TO THEM.  THERE WERE SOME BIG DOLPHIN CAUGHT ON BOTH DAYS AND EVEN A HUNDRED PLUS POUND YELLOWFIN TUNA!  IN ALL, IT CAN BE SAFE TO ASSUME THAT THIS YEAR'S SAILFISH SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY KICKED IN.  LET'S GO GET 'EM!

JAN 2  FISHING AN AFTERNOON TRIP TODAY WE WERE LOOKING FOR A SHOT AT SOME DOLPHIN WHICH HAVE BEEN SCATTERED HERE AND THERE OVER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS.  WORKING OUR TROLLING SPREAD TO THE SOUTH AND OFFSHORE WE ENCOUNTERED A FEW BITES FROM SKIPJACK TUNA OUT IN 380 FEET.   OTHER THAN THAT, HOWEVER WE WEREN'T LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND OUR DESIRED QUARRY.  A FEW SAILS SEEN INSHORE ON THE LIVE BAIT AND ONE DOLPHIN WERE THE ONLY VHF REPORTS ON THE RADIO.  IN ALL, A SLOW AFTERNOON OUT ON THE OCEAN TODAY.

DOLPHIN CATCH ABOARD GIN CLEAR.
DEC. 7TH, 2014

 SAILFISH ON!!
DEC. 7TH, 2014

DEC 7  FULL MOON CONDITIONS LEFT ME FEELING UN-EASY AS TO HOW THE BITE WAS GOING TO BE TODAY.  WITH LITE WINDS FROM THE WEST-NORTHWEST FIRST THING IN THE MORNING WE DECIDED TO GIVE TROLLING A TRY BECAUSE MEAT WAS THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE FOR TODAY'S MISSION.  HEADING OUT FRONT THERE WERE SIGNS OF BONITO CHASING FLYING FISH JUST OFFSHORE OF THE SEA BUOY.  NOT WANTING TO WASTE TOO MUCH TIME PROSPECTING IN THE SHALLOWS, WE PUSHED FURTHER OFFSHORE IN SEARCH OF DOLPHIN.  WE TROLLED AROUND FOR SOME TIME BEFORE WE GOT OUR FIRST BITE AND PUT A SMALL DOLPHIN IN THE BOX AFTER A SIGNAL FROM FEEDING BIRDS ALERTED US THAT THERE WERE DOLPHIN BELOW.  CIRCLING BACK AROUND WE CHUMMED UP NUMEROUS SCHOOLIES TO THE BOAT AND CAUGHT ANOTHER ONE, BUT SOON THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED IN ANY CHUNK BAIT THAT WE GAVE TO THEM.  SOMETIMES WHEN FISH ARE FICKLE IT PAYS OFF TO HAVE FAST MOVING BAITS TO GET THEM BACK IN THE MOOD TO FEED, SO WE WENT BACK TO TROLL.  MAKING YET ANOTHER TURN ON THE SCHOOL WE SAW THE RIGHT LONG GO DOWN AND WE HAD A NICE BEND IN THE ROD.  MUCH TO OUR SUPRISE AND DELIGHT, WE HAD HOOKED A SAILFISH AND QUICKLY RELEASED IT WHICH DEFINETLY BRIGHTENED UP OUR DAY.  BUT WE WEREN'T THROUGH JUST YET...  SOON AFTER THE WIND MADE A SHIFT TO THE NORTH AND PICKED UP CONSIDERABLY.  ON OUR WAY BACK TO THE INLET WE PUT 2 MORE GAFFER DOLPHIN IN THE BOX AND CALLED IT A DAY.  GREAT FISHING ON A FULL MOON!

NOV 15  GREAT MID-DAY SAILFISHING BITE WITH SOME BOATS SCORING UP TO SIX RELEASES.  MOST OF THE FISH WERE CAUGHT UNDERNEATH THE KITE WITH LIVE GOGGLE EYES IN AROUND 200 FEET OF WATER.  KINGS WERE SPOTTY IN THE SHALLOWER DEPTHS.  THE NEXT COLD FRONT IS ON ITS WAY, LET'S GET READY!

NOV 3  THIS IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR WHERE WE BEGIN TO GET COLD FRONTS PASSING THROUGH WITH SOME REGULARITY.  AS AN EFFECT OF THIS CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN WE EXPERIENCE A CHANGE IN OUR FISHING CONDITIONS AS WELL.  IN RECENT YEARS WE HAVE SEEN GIANT SWIRLS COMING OFF THE GULFSTREAM KNOWN AS WARM CORE EDDIES, OFTEN TIMES IT WILL APPEAR THAT THE OCEAN IS BACKWARDS WITH GREEN WATER TO THE EAST AND BLUE TO THE WEST.  IN THESE ANOMALIES ARE A PLETHORA OF SPECIES INCLUDING DOLPHIN, WAHOO, TUNA, AND SAILFISH.  IN FACT, SOME OF THE BEST FISHING DAYS HAVE BEEN RIGHT AROUND HALLOWEEN FOR NICE DOLPHIN AND SAILS.  ALTHOUGH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN TO PREDICT WHICH DAY WILL BE THE BEST, THERE IS ONE THING FOR SURE, YOU CAN'T CATCH 'EM SITTIN' ON THE COUCH!  LET'S GET OUT THERE AND CATCH 'EM UP!

GRABBED THIS WAHOO WITH THE DOWNRIGGER.
SEPT 28TH, 2014

SEPT 28  STEADY EASTERLY WINDS CHOPPED UP THE WATERS OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET TODAY.  WORKING OUR WAY DOWN SOUTH TOWARDS BREAKERS HOTEL WE CAUGHT A SKIPJACK OUT IN AROUND 500 FEET.  LATER WE ENDED UP WITH A SMALL WAHOO AND A BARRICUDA OFF THE DODGE WALL IN THE SAME DEPTH.

SEPT 25  MIXED ACTION OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET TODAY.  BLACKFIN TUNA, DOLPHIN, SAILFISH AND KINGS WERE ALL CAUGHT BY THE SEVEN BOATS ON OUR GROUP CHARTER.  MOST OF THE FISH WERE TAKEN TROLLING, BUT A FEW WERE SEEN WHILE LIVE BAITING.  WE'RE LOOKING FOWARD TO SOME COOLER WEATHER NEXT MONTH TO REALLY GET THE BITE GOING.

SEPT 8  LOOKING FOR THAT PRIZED WAHOO WE WERE AMAZED TO HOOK A HUGE SAILFISH RIGHT OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET.  THE FISH JUMPED MANY TIMES VERTICALLY WHEN IT WAS FIRST HOOKED.  WHAT A SHOW!

AUG 12  AN EARLY FULL MOON THIS MONTH OF AUGUST BROUGHT WITH IT THE CHANCE TO CATCH ONE OF THE MOST PRIZED SPECIES IN OUR WATERS, THE WAHOO.  WHILE HIGH-SPEED TROLLING IS THE MOST COMMON METHOD OF CATCH, WE DECIDED TO GIVE IT A GO.  WE HAD ONE BITE ON OUR DOWNRIGGER AT AROUND QUARTER AFTER SEVEN, BUT FAILED TO CONNECT WITH THE FISH.  WE CAUGHT A COUPLE BARRICUDA AND EVEN A SMALL DOLPHIN OUT IN 450 FEET.  MAYBE THE SEPTEMBER MOON WILL BE BETTER THIS YEAR!

JULY 20  DOLPHIN CAN BE FOUND WELL OFFSHORE WITH PEANUT SIZED FISH BEING THE MOST PREVALENT.  LOOK FOR BIRDS WORKING ALONG CURRENT EDGES AND ALSO FLOATING DEBRIS.  WATCH FOR THE WAHOO BITE DOWN DEEP ON THE DOWNRIGGER.

JUNE 19  DOLPHIN FISHING CONTINUES TO BE GOOD IN OUR AREA WITH NICE BUNCHES OF SARGASSUM TO PICK THROUGH AND A FEW FLOATS TO BE FOUND IF YOU'RE LUCKY.  MOST OF THE FISH ARE SCHOOLIES BUT A FEW NICE GAFFERS SHOW UP IN THE MIX FROM TIME TO TIME.  CLASSIC SUMMER FISHING CONDITIONS!

JUNE 8  NUMEROUS BIG PATCHES OF WEED WITH LOTS OF DOLPHIN UNDER THEM.   LOOKED LIKE SUMMER FISHING THAT WE USED TO KNOW AROUND HERE.  LIVE BAITING UNDER THE PATCHES WITH SARDINES WORKED THE BEST.  JUST GORGEOUS OUT THERE!

MAY 31-JUNE 1  GUSTY EAST BREEZES MEANT OPTIMAL FISHING CONDITIONS FOR OUR TARGETED SPECIES DOLPHIN.  TWO DAYS TROLLING THE AREA OUT FRONT OF PALM BEACH INLET AS WELL AS DOWN SOUTH TOWARDS THE BREAKERS HOTEL, WE BAGGED 10 DOLPHIN UP TO 20 LBS AND LOST ONE ESTIMATED TO BE OVER 30.  IN ADDITION TO THE DOLPHIN WE ALSO SCOOPED UP A BLACKFIN AND A BONITO WITH OUR TROLLING SPREAD.  THIS IS THE KIND OF FISHING THAT WE REALLY ENJOY, ITS ACTION PACKED AND AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE'S PLENTY OF MEAT TO PASS AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS.  BOOK A CHARTER WHILE THE ACTION IS HOT! CALL (561) 319-0270 TODAY!

MAY 22, 2014

MAY 22  HOT AND FLAT SUMMERLIKE CONDITIONS WITH SCATTERED WEEDS AT SOME TIMES ALMOST UNFISHABLE, QUITE THE CONTRAST FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON'S TRIP.  TROLLING AROUND WE HAD A TINY DOLPHIN FOLLOW US FOR A BRIEF INSTANT BUT THE FISH COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BUT MOUTH THE BAIT.  FINALLY WE HAD A NICE STRIKE ON THE DOWNRIGGER AND ENDED UP WITH A REALLY NICE TUNA.

A COUPLE NICE DOLPHIN COURTESY OF OUR FRIENDS THE FRIGATE BIRDS!
MAY 19TH, 2014

MAY 19  TODAY'S AFTERNOON TRIP WAS A FUN ONE WITH OUR FRIENDS FROM ARROW CONSULTING GROUP.  STARTING OFF WITH A SAILFISH SLASHING AT OUR TEASER, WE FOUND SOME FRIGATE BIRDS WORKING IN UNISON AND IN TIME NABBED A COUPLE NICE GAFFER DOLPHIN, A BLACKFIN TUNA, AND A COUPLE BONITOS.  THIS IS THE TIME OF YEAR WHERE WE SEE SOME REALLY NICE DOLPHIN, LET'S GET OUT THERE AND GET SOME MORE!

MAY 15  SEEMS LIKE THE WIND HAS BEEN BLOWING STEADY FROM THE EASTERLY DIRECTION FOR SOME TIME NOW PUSHING WEEDS AND OTHER DEBRIS TOWARDS OUR COAST.  AS WE HEAD OUT ON THE HUNT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR GOOD DOLPHIN ACTION IN ANYWHERE FROM 90 FEET ON OUT PAST 1000.  AS BONITO BEGIN TO SHOW THEMSELVES IN THE SHALLOWER WATERS WE CAN ALSO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR APEX PREDATORS LIKE WAHOO AND EVEN BLUE MARLIN, WHICH FEED ON THESE PLENTIFUL TUNA ONCE THEY BEGIN TO CONGREGATE IN OUR AREA.

APRIL 9-12  WHILE A LATE AFTERNOON TRIP ON THURSDAY PRODUCED VERY LITTLE ACTION DESPITE ROUGH SEAS AND EAST WINDS, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WE CAUGHT SOME DOLPHIN, SKIPJACK AND BLACKFIN TUNA.  WE ARE LOOKING FOWARD TO MORE SPRING DOLPHIN AS WE HEAD FURTHER INTO THE SEASON.
